Meet Liz — Founder & Head Trainer at Carolina Canine Training®

Liz is a native of Concord, NC and a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Pre-Med) with minors in Chemistry and Forensic Science in 2006. Just two weeks after graduation, she followed her passion for animals and moved to Austin, Texas to attend the prestigious Canine Training & Behavior Specialist Program at Starmark Academy (formerly Triple Crown Dog Academy).

After completing the program, Liz was selected as an apprentice, quickly promoted to Instructor, and ultimately served as Director at the internationally renowned school for professional dog trainers. From 2006 to 2009, she personally instructed over 200 aspiring trainers in all aspects of dog training and behavior.

During this time, Liz also competed in Schutzhund—a demanding protection, obedience, and tracking sport—with her German Shepherd, Yoda. At a Regional Championship, Yoda earned the distinction of being the highest-scoring female in the protection phase. Liz also trained in Agility, Narcotics Detection, and coached handlers across a variety of disciplines.

In 2009, Liz returned to North Carolina and founded Carolina Canine Training®. After five successful years, she was invited back to Starmark Academy in 2014 to serve as Lead Instructor, where she spent nine months redeveloping and refining the school’s curriculum. Although she loved mentoring professionals, Liz realized her true passion was working directly with dog owners to help them build lasting bonds and real-world results with their pets.

Liz is deeply committed to continued education and industry best practices. She has attended national conferences through IACP and APDT, and holds multiple certifications, including:

  • Associate K9 Nose Work® Instructor (NACSW)

  • PetTech Pet First Aid & CPR Instructor

  • AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator

She has also certified three of her own dogs through Therapy Dogs International.

With a belief that every dog—regardless of age, breed, or behavior—has the potential to be a better companion, Liz brings unmatched experience, compassion, and results-driven methods to every training session.
